On Tuesday we carved a pumpkin with the kids. None of the kids wanted to touch the inside of the pumpkin. They all used the little scooper to take out a seed or two, except for my kid. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty. We talked about how Jesus takes out the yucky parts of us (sin) and fills us with a light like we did to the pumpkin. Then we carved a Christian pumpkin. i found the idea here.
Sawyer's teacher did a great job carving the pumpkin. I had the job of entertaining the 15 three year olds and keeping them away from the sharp objects. I guess i did a good job too, because no children were harmed in the carving of this pumpkin!
On Thursday the three year old classes went on a storybook parade. The children had to bring their favorite book and dress like a character from the book. I tried to convince Sawyer to dress like one of the "Naughty Little Monkeys" or the little boy from "I love you Stinky Face", two of his favorite books, but he insisted on being a pirate. So we borrowed the book, "How I became a Pirate" and he carried it in the parade.
The kids were adorable in their costumes and had so much fun parading. My favorite part was reading all of the fun books they brought. I love story time!
Sawyer's teacher wasn't able to come, because her kids were sick. She was still sweet enough to send treats. Sawyer enjoyed the marshmallow mummy (marshmallows wrapped in fruit roll ups.)
